  Hula hooper breaks new record
Updated 07 January 2002, 17.25
Ashrita Furman breaking his hula record
The world's most successful recorder breaker has nabbed another title!

Ashrita Furman wriggled his way to his 71st record by jogging five miles (eight km) while spinning a hula hoop.

'Hula running'

He calls the sport 'hula running' and, in all, it took him two and a half hours to complete.

Afterwards he said: "I'm so tired, my legs are so shaky, oh man - it was fun!"

Ashrita, 47, from the US, has already broken 70 records, including the fastest mile on a pogo stick and the furthest distance travelled by forward roll.

But he wouldn't tell us what his 72nd record would be!
