Schoolgirl who hit prince could face jail
Updated 09 November 2001, 12.43

A schoolgirl who used a flower to hit Prince Charles in the face has been arrested by police in Latvia.

Alina Lebedeva, aged 16, was protesting about the war in Afghanistan and struck the visiting Prince with a flower.

Latvian Police charged the girl with endangering the life of a foreign dignitary, even though Prince Charles wasn't hurt.

Fifteen years in jail

Police are trying to work out if anyone else tried to convince Alina to attack Prince Charles, before they take the case to court.

If Alina's case does go to court she could be sent to prison for as long as 15 years.
