Some 280 children were expelled for assaulting adults, with a further 336 expulsions for attacking other kids.
A total of 4,000 children were suspended for attacking adults, with the number rocketing to 12,800 for kids suspended for assaults on other pupils.
Most of those excluded (80%) were boys and the most common age for offenders was 13 or 14.
In total, 2,400 kids were expelled and 80,000 were suspended.
Disruptive
The most common offence was "persistent disruptive behaviour".
It was the first time the government has released figures in this way, so there is nothing to compare them to at this stage.
