Moyles gets more people up early
Updated 06 May 2004, 17.22
Chris Moyles has added loads of listeners
Lots more people are getting up early in the morning to listen to Radio 1 since Chris Moyles took over the show.

The DJ, who calls himself the saviour of Radio 1, has added almost 700,000 listeners since starting in January.

Chris swapped shows with Sara Cox, and since then the number of listeners to the breakfast show has jumped from 6.5m every morning to 7.18m.

Talking about the rise Chris said: "I'm extremely bothered and I'm absolutely over-the-moon delighted."

The 29-year-old is on holiday at the moment but returns to the show in two weeks.

Next week he finds out if he has won the important DJ of the Year crown at the Sony Radio Academy Awards.

The total number of people listening to the station every week has gone up from this time last year too, jumping from 9.44m to 9.84m every week.
