  Maths teachers named 'most evil'
Updated 28 April 2004, 18.19
School scene
Maths and science teachers come in for a hard time in a survey of 2,000 kids carried out by Bliss magazine.

According to the poll, maths teachers are the most evil and science is the worst-taught subject in our schools.

Poor old science teachers were named the most boring, closely followed by maths tutors. The most popular subjects were art, PE and English.

The poll also found out how you feel about going to school - 16% of you say you love it and 70% think it's okay.

Not that the work stops when you leave lessons, with the average 15-year-old spending 11 hours 28 minutes on homework each week.

Kids said the most disgusting teacher trait was body odour, with greasy hair and nose-picking also making your skin crawl.

Dream teacher

Orlando Bloom and Christina Aguilera were named your dream teachers.

And you also offered hints on what makes a top teacher.

"A good teacher does interesting stuff in lessons," Alex, 13, told Newsround.

And Rachel, 12, reckons it's all about understanding: " A good teacher is someone who listens and doesn't shout if you get it wrong."

Real-life dream teachers were also rewarded.

Around 5,000 kids nominated tutors for the magazine's Best Teacher Awards, with categories including nicest teacher and most-inspiring teacher.
