People who set off fireworks after 11pm could soon face serious punishments if government plans go ahead.
Ministers want to bring in a national 11pm to 7am curfew when fireworks would be banned as part of a crackdown on anti-social behaviour.
Other measures include putting a limit on how noisy fireworks can be. Anyone breaking the law could be fined £5,000 or face six months in jail.
The curfew would be extended to 2am on dates like Diwali or Guy Fawkes night.
