  McDonald's junks supersize option
Updated 04 March 2004, 10.50
Tucking in at McDonald's
It won't be possible to go "supersize" at McDonalds for much longer after the fast food chain decided to scrap the massive portion option.

Supersize portions are only available at selected McDonald's UK outlets. They're already being phased out and they'll be totally gone by December.

McDonald's says the decision was made because supersize portions make up only 0.1% of its total sales.

It comes at a time when fast food is being blamed for our obesity problems.

One in every 25 children are now obese, which means they're so fat it's bad for their health.

Ban

Earlier this week, 100 organisations joined forces to call for a ban on junk food advertising aimed at children.
