Hypnotherapist Tania tries out her talents on Bob the eagle owl
By Leigh 'spooky' Mytton
CBBC Newsround Online

The beastmaster who looks after the creepy creatures at the London Dungeon knew who to call when some of his staff got spooked by his pets.

He called in hypnotherapist Tania Cheslaw to help his assistants make friends with the snakes, spiders, rats and bats on show at the attraction.

One of the beastmaster's helpers, Sally, was terrified of tarantulas.

Tania told Sally to imagine the spider wearing tap shoes. Minutes later, Sally was holding Terri the tarantula.

Tania gave CBBC Newsround Online some top tips about dealing with phobias.

She said you've got to face your fears to conquer them.

"Your fear is tiny in comparison to you. Imagine it is a piece of dust on the floor and stamp on it - that's your fear - gone."

Snakes

To get over a fear of spiders or snakes, Tania said it's a good idea to read up about the creatures and learn to love them.

"Get a book about spiders - they are fantastic creatures. Look at the webs they weave and start enjoying looking at them before you reach out and touch one."

Tarantula

Tarantula handler Hannah said: "If you get used to spiders at a young age, you're less likely to be scared of them when you're older."

The beastmaster said his fave creatures were white rats Mr Lucas and Ratticus. "They're so cuddly," he sniggered.

Some of the creepy creatures will be on show at the London Dungeon as part of a special Halloween event.
