Food experts looked at 556 lunches over a week, and found more than 70% had crisps in them and more than 60% had biscuits or a chocolate bar.
Fewer than half of the lunches contained a piece of fruit.
The Food Standards Agency says kids often have more say than their parents in choosing what goes in their lunchboxes.
They added: "Small changes to what children eat now can have a big impact on their diet and health in the future."
