Parents paying for kids' shopping sprees
Updated 22 August 2003, 09.38
Your parents are giving you loads of cash
Kids are spending loads of money every year on buying clothes, and it's their parents who are picking up the bills.

A survey has shown that a third of children aged between 11 and 14 get 200 a year - around 4 a week - and they spend lots of it buying the latest fashions.

Boys are more concerned about wearing designer names, while girls like to get lots of cheaper things for their money.

Three quarters of girls say they like to spend time shopping, adding that spending time browsing around makes them happy.

Boys aren't such big shopaholics, instead only hitting the shops when they have something definite to go out and buy.

More money to come!

And things get even better when you hit 15, with more than half of teens aged 15-19 getting around 100 a month from their parents!
