  Underwater marathon at Loch Ness
Updated 21 August 2003, 15.48
Lloyd Scott in his diving suit
A man is preparing to run the Loch Ness Marathon - in the Loch!

Lloyd Scott, 41, who recently set the world record for the slowest marathon time, will stroll the murky depths for charity in an antique diving suit.

He's run the New York, London and Edinburgh marathons on dry land. So he said: "It was a natural progression to complete the course under water."

The Loch Ness monster - or is it?
Will Lloyd run into Nessie?
He's prepared for anything - even meeting the legendary monster. "If I do meet Nessie, I'm not sure who will be more scared, the monster or myself," he said.

Lloyd, who started running for charity after he recovered from leukemia, is training in a special diving pool in Fort William, which even has a fake shipwreck in it.

He'll start the race with 1,300 runners on 28 September, and hopes to cross the finishing line at Inverness Queen's Park two weeks later.

He's aiming to raise more than £1 million to launch the Children with Leukaemia Children's Marathon Challenge.
