Red Nose Day 2003 raises most money ever
Updated 14 July 2003, 17.18
Red Nose Day host Lenny Henry
This year's Red Nose Day raised a whopping 60 million - the biggest amount since the event started 14 years ago.

The figure is the same as the number of people in the UK, so you could say it's the same as every man, woman and child giving 1 to the charity!

Successful

Celeb Driving School - Gareth failed his test!

Celeb versions of Harry Potter, Fame Academy and Driving School helped make Red Nose Day so successful.

Charity single Spirit In The Sky, by Gareth Gates and comedy family the Kumars, also added to the total when it shot to the top of the charts.

Hair was the theme for Red Nose Day 2003 and so many people got into the spirit of it that the nation sold out of red spray-on hair colour.

Really proud

Red Nose Day host Lenny Henry said: "Everyone who got involved should feel really proud of themselves."

The cash will be spent over the next two years on projects helping people in the UK and Africa.
