Kids wanted at Chitty Chitty open auditions
Updated 21 May 2003, 14.21
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
How would you like the chance to star in the hit musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?

Kids are being invited to open auditions where the show's bosses will pick 57 children to perform in the play.

Everyone will be asked to sing the chorus of the show's famous tune, Truly Scrumptious, at the auditions.

But there are some rules too. Kids must be:

  • Eight to 12-years-old
  • Under 4 ft 10 ins
  • Strong singing and movement skills
  • Boys should have unbroken voices

The 57 chosen children will make up three teams of 19, and will take it in turns to star in the musical.

They'll have to be free to rehearse and perform between August 2003 and February 2004.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang opened at the London Palladium in April 2002. It's broken records and its special effects cost more than 6 million.

The open audition will be held at 10am (9am registration) at the London Palladium, Argyll Street, London W1 on Tuesday 27 May 2003.
