Rap poem celebrates Wills' 21st birthday
Updated 21 June 2003, 12.20
Prince William is celebrating his 21st birthday
Prince William's 21st birthday has been celebrated in a poem which keeps up with his funky image.

Poet Laureate Andrew Motion might have been inspired by Eminem and 50 Cent when putting together the poem, which he describes as a "kind of rap".

He opens the poem with: "Better stand back/ Here's an age attack/ But the second in line/ Is dealing with it fine."

The poem has seven verses and is the "A-side" of a two-part tribute called On The Record. Part two - the B-side - takes a more traditional form.

Prince William is hosting a party with an African theme for 300 friends and family to mark his birthday on Saturday.

He's given a rare interview as part of his birthday celebrations.

He reveals that he likes riding high-speed motorbikes and that he has a "very good relationship" with his 18-year-old brother, Prince Harry.

Stubborn

He also admits to having a "slightly stubborn" streak.

On a more serious note, Prince William said he "learned a lot" from visiting homeless people with his mother Princess Diana, who died in 1997.

He also stuck up for his dad, Prince Charles, who's often been given a hard time by the press.

For now, the prince says his main task is focusing on his studies at St Andrew's University.

"I've got to get through that," he said.
