Pupils have mixed reaction to 'nude' teachers
Updated 16 June 2003, 17.29

School pupils in Berkshire are getting used to seeing their teachers in a different light all thanks to a nearly nude calendar!

Sixteen teachers posed for nearly naked photos which have been used to make the 2004 calendar.

They were snapped by a pupil's parent while they stood behind things to do with their subject - a cello for the music mistress and a cactus for the biology master.

But Newsround has found out the pupils' reactions are mixed.

Billy, 12 said: "It's disturbing too see our teachers in strange positions with no clothes on. It's not very nice."

And Victoria, 12, added: "When you see them in lessons they're always so boring and strict and when we saw them in the calendar you just see a completely different side of them!"

The older kids are more in favour of seeing their teachers in a different way and think it's a great idea.

One of the pupils organising it, Charlotte, 17, said: "There were so many people that wanted to take part that we had to extend it to 16 months in the end."

Good cause

It's all for a good cause too! The money made from the 1500 copies printed will go to a school in South Africa.

Pupils came up with the idea as part of a Youth Enterprise scheme and which helps them learn how to run a small business.
