Almost all British kids and adults admit to doing something silly for good luck - like touching wood or avoiding ladders, a survey's shown.

Top superstitions:

• Touching wood (86%)
• Crossing fingers (64%)
• Not walking under ladders (49%)
• Worrying about breaking mirrors (34%)
• Fearing the number 13 (25%)
• Carrying a lucky charm (24%)

But people who consider themselves unlucky actually have the most to fear, researchers reckon.

Those of us who worry about something bad happening on Friday 13th, can subconsciously make things happen, they said.
