Boy, 13, is youngest arrested for drink driving
Updated 10 June 2003, 17.31
Littlehampton
A 13-year-old boy has become one of the youngest people in the UK to be charged by police for drink driving.

The teenager, who can't be named because the law won't allow it, was charged with taking a vehicle and driving it having drunk too much alcohol.

He was arrested after a car crash in Littlehampton, West Sussex, on 2 June.

Court

The teenager has also been charged with burglary, and will appear before magistrates in Worthing on Thursday.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "The youth is certainly one of the youngest ever to be charged with driving with excess alcohol.

"Records for the last six years show that in Sussex, the youngest was 13 years and 11 months. This youth is 13 years and 10 months."
