  Pupils plan anti-war walkout
Updated 19 March 2003, 09.30

Loads of children are planning to walk out of lessons all over the countries on Wednesday to protest about the war with Iraq.

The people organising the protest aren't naming any of the schools involved because that would help teachers stop it happening.

Some pupils have been told that if they do walk out they will be treated as if they are bunking off.

Police in Leicester have already warned kids that they will be putting on extra patrols outside schools to try and stop them leaving.

Earlier protest ended in violence

They are acting after a similar rally on 7 March when things got a bit rough and eight people were arrested.

Teachers' Unions have asked schools not to treat the protests as seriously as other types of truancy, suggesting instead they talk about Iraq in citizenship lessons.

Tell us your marching stories. Are you planning to walk out of school to protest about Iraq?
