Children in Western society are getting depressed because they're obsessed with being rich, famous or beautiful.
Kids between nine and 12 were asked and tested for depression.
Researchers found many kids wanted to be celebs or really rich more than anything else.
The ones who believed money, stardom and being attractive made you happy were more likely to be miserable.
That's because sometimes those can be very unrealistic things to aim for and we get down if it doesn't happen.
