Dan's luscious locks top Comic Relief auction
Updated 13 March 2003, 14.19
Daniel Radcliffe
A lock of Dan Radcliffe's barnet has beaten the hair of Gareth Gates and S Club Juniors in an auction for Comic Relief.

The Potter actor even beat Dolly the cloned sheep - who died recently.

Dolly's hair!
Dolly's hair!

The winner of Dan's luscious locks shelled out a hair-raising 751 for Comic Relief.

Loads of celebs donated bits of their fab follicles to a charity TV and online auction channel bid-up.tv.

The celebrity crops raised a total of 3,506 in bids.

Hairy do

The idea for an auction of celeb hair is very fitting since this year's theme for the fundraising day is the Big Hair-Do

Fact File
The hairy bids
Daniel Radcliffe 751
Gareth Gates 651
Dolly the Sheep 500
Kim Wilde 301
Graham Norton 252
Gary Lineker 204
Christine and Neil Hamilton 181
S Club Juniors 144
TOTAL RAISED 3,506

We just have a few suggestions about what the proud owner of Dan's hair could do with it.

  • He or she could make it into a Rad-wig.

  • Or he or she could take a strand and make a new wand with it.

  • He or she could use it to clone Dan so there are enough of him to go around! You can see all the barmy barnet action and crazy celeb stunts - including a Potter spoof - on Red Nose Day, BBC One from 7.00pm, Friday 14 March.
