Boy's letter to Becks wins award
Updated 10 March 2003, 15.12
Christopher Chambers with TV presenter Tess Daly
A boy who wrote to David Beckham to get out of a telling-off has won a letter-writing award.

10-year-old Christopher Chambers from Northern Ireland was in hot water for using his sister's clothes as target practice.

He'd been using the washing line to perfect his Becks-style defending skills.

But his mum didn't see the funny side.

Plea to Becks

It was Becks's defending skills which got Chris in trouble!

The Royal Mail run a competition every year to find the best letter from a young person.

So Chris used it as a chance to plead to the England footy hero:

"Help! I'm in trouble and it is your fault... I admit most of my shots hit the defenders, I mean clothes, but muck can be washed out can't it!"

He beat thousands of kids to win but we don't know if he's still in trouble with his mum!
