Junk food ads for kids 'should be banned'
Updated 26 February 2003, 10.06
Girl eating burger
Adverts for junk food aimed at children should be banned, according to a new report.

The Food Commission - which checks up on how and what people eat - says kids are suffering because they're so unhealthy.

And they blame the fact that so many food and drink companies aim their ads at young people.

Potter under fire

Sweets
Their survey found of 358 foods marketed to children, 77% had high levels of sugar, salt or saturated fat.

Even Harry Potter came under fire over deals with Coca Cola, and choc and sweets linked with Mars.

There's always a lot of criticism over how fizzy drink and sweets ads are aimed at children.

But now the Commission wants them completely banned.
