  Big-screen success boosts Potter book sales

The Chamber of Secrets proved so popular in cinemas that thousands of kids put Harry Potter on their Christmas lists.

But despite a surge in demand for books featuring the child wizard, publisher Bloomsbury has yet to name the day for the release of the hotly anticipated fifth title in the series - The Order of the Phoenix.

The company says sales of the Potter books during the festive period helped push their profits beyond the 10.7m they expected for 2002.

And Bloomsbury's share price has risen 2% to 670p as a result.

Boss Nigel Newton says he is "delighted".
