Kids battle to keep their wendy house
Updated 07 January 2003, 07.38
Ben and Katie Goodwill are very upset
Two children are caught up in a battle with their local council over a wendy house.

Ben and Katie Goodwill have been told they might be ordered to take down their play house because it needs "planning permission"!

But the kids and their parents say it's just a harmless toy.

'Absolutely stupid'

Ben, eight, and Katie, six, are said to be devastated by the council's plans. They even got their neighbours to sign a petition saying they didn't mind it being there.

The Wendy House could be scrapped
Members of Pendle Borough Council in Lancashire will decide on Tuesday night if the wendy house has to go.

They say the house needs planning permission because it's less than 2m high and 1.2m wide, and has been built outside.

The children's grandmother, Audrey Goodwill, said the council's behaviour was "absolutely stupid".

"It's not in the way, it's in the garden," she said. "But it seems the council has decided there is a problem. The children are very upset."
