After the floods comes snow and ice
Updated 04 January 2003, 19.05
Snow's fun for some!
Freezing temperatures have brought more misery for people across the UK already coping with heavy rain and flooding.

Ice and snow is covering many parts of the country now, particularly in the north of England and Scotland.

But southern areas of England have not escaped either with areas of Kent seeing a huge blanket of snow. It had already been hit badly by flooding earlier in the week.

Still warnings

There are still 68 flood warnings around the country, even though that number has fallen.

Three of them are severe warnings for Bedfordshire and Surrey.

Over 400 homes are flooded in the UK, including 100 in Chertsey, where the Thames burst its banks on Friday.

Weather experts say even worse winter weather will come along next week.

The good news they reckon there's not much more rain to some. It should fall as snow instead.
