  Britain braced for more floods

Weather experts are warning that the threat of flooding will reach a "critical point" on Thursday because there has been so much rain.

More than 140 areas of the UK have been given flood warnings, with the south-east of England the worst affected.

Some people in areas where the rain is as its heaviest have been told there is almost no chance of stopping their homes from becoming flooded.

Death

A man in North London died on Thursday while trying to help a neighbour try to unblock a drain.

The weather is pretty good for swans
The problem is that the rain has left so much water in rivers that every time more falls there is nowhere for it to go but into streets.

This can happen very quickly and is called a flash flood. It's one of the reasons floods are so dangerous.

For the latest information, the Environment Agency advises people to call Floodline on 0845 988 1188.
