Christopher, 12, is Brainiest kid in Britain
Updated 01 January 2003, 14.22
Britain's Brainiest Kid
Think you're brainy? Well, 12-year-old Christopher Guerin knows he is.

The Birmingham schoolboy was crowned Britain's Brainiest Kid on Tuesday night.

He beat thousands of other brain boxes to the final of the TV competition hosted by the mathematical Carol Vorderman.

Quizmaster Carol said she was "blown away" by the Brummie lad's brain power.

On the night, he had no problem with tricky quiz questions on sport, geography and his specialist subject - the life of the historical Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Becket.

Christopher was very surprised and pleased with his new title. But he was more happy that another girl didn't win the crown!

Last year, over eight million watched Laura Hibbert take the title.

Mensa member

Christopher is already a member of Mensa, a special club for people with very high IQs.

Your IQ, or intelligent quotient, is a measurement of how brainy you are. It's worked out from results of a specially-designed set of tests people can take.

Christopher's IQ is 162 - eight points higher than Carol Vorderman's!
