  Slippers 'most dangerous Xmas present'

Huge novelty slippers aren't just a bad fashion statement, they're actually the most dangerous Christmas present too!

The Daily Mirror says a government report is blaming the popular festive gift for landing lots of people in casualty.

One unlucky lady hurt her back and dislocated her shoulder after tripping over her Christmas pudding-shaped slippers and falling down the stairs.

The report also reckons more than 8,000 people will have spent Christmas Day in casualty.

She emailed us: "My dad accidently shut the car boot door on his head, so me and my mum spent Christmas night down the hospital with him!"

Other common Christmas calamities include people tripping over wires from their games consoles, choking on coins in Christmas puds and people getting on the wrong side of their Christmas tree!

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents are warning people to be extra careful so they don't end up in hospital when they're meant to be having fun!
