  Feather Boy wins Blue Peter Book of 2002

Blue Peter Book Award
Nicky Singer's book Feather Boy has won Blue Peter's top book award.

The un-put-downable read is about a boy called Robert who is cruelly called 'nerdy Norbert' by bullies, but then gets involved in trying to solve a mystery.

Blue Peter judges voted it The Book I Couldn't Put Down, and then it went on to win the overall Blue Peter Book of the Year.

The judging panel was made up of nine young blue peter viewers who wrote reviews to win their place on the jury.

There was also an adult panel led by TV presenter Ian Hislop who had to whittle all the books nominated down to a shortlist.

The Best Information Book award was won by Lucy Lethbridge, who wrote Ada Lovelace The computer wizard of Victorian England.

Ada was a young girl obsessed with maths who wanted to be the first to invent a human flying machine!

Jacquilne Wilson's The Story of Tracey Beaker also picked up an award for the Best Story Book. This was a category voted for by kids in libraries around the country.
