Glamming it up at the Clothes Show Live
Updated 09 December 2002, 19.03

CBBC Newsround Online in Birmingham

Shopaholics had their wonga at the ready, wannabee models pouted for the camera and Blue fans were out in force at this year's Clothes Show Live.

At some bleary time of the morning, queues of dolled-up girls and guys stood waiting for the NEC's doors to open.

Serious shoppers were on a mission for top designer bargains on the millions of clothes stands dotted round the hall.

From skatewear to nail wear, hair extensions to wacky contact lenses - there was serious cash to be spent.

Wannabee models

Model agencies like Select were on hand to spot the next big thing.

Hopefuls had their photos taken and the past Clothes Show Faces of the Year were on hand to dish out some advice.

On the catwalk baby!

But the fun really started on the catwalk.

There was chilled out funky gear, classic retro patterns, military pants and fluorescent tights.

But no one really paid attention to the clothes, who cared what was going to be hot next year, what the audience really wanted to see was Blue's catwalk debut.

Blue boys

To the signature tune of screaming girls, the boys entered onto the catwalk, did a little walk, posed for pics, waved at the audience and then they were off.

Some fans were clearly disappointed at the lack of a performance but others were just glad to be in the same room as the lads!

Flaking out!

Other celebs we spotted were Vernon Kay and June Sarpong doing a bit of presenting, and the model behaviour gang signing pics at the Select stand.

Come 4pm, even the most gorgeous models were flaking, and hardcore shopaholics retired to the food hall to check out their purchases.

For the rest of us there was only one more thing to check out - a quick make-over from the Cosmo Girl stand, a free choccie bar and home for a serious long bath.

Being glam is seriously hard work!!
