Updated 30 October 2002, 20.34
Dressed up as witches

Out of almost a thousand votes nearly 52% of you said it was completely fine to go knocking on strangers' doors.

But just over 48% of you think it's not very bright because it can be frightening for other people and could be dangerous for the trick or treaters themselves.

'Good way to bond'

Amy, 16, from Canvey Island emailed us:

"I think it's a great way for all the local community to bond with each other. It's a great experience for the little ones."

But Emily, 11, from Ashbourne disagrees:

"I think that it is a bad idea because it is really just forcing adults to give you sweets or money. Also it is dangerous for children to be out at night."

In 2001 a survey said most British adults thought trick or treating was bad for kids.
