New rules for skaters are no fun
Updated 20 June 2002, 11.50
Skaters on the street
Skateboarders have given the thumbs down to new rules that could decide the size of ramps and rails in skate parks.

Is safe skating boring? Click here to have your say!

The new rules are supposed to make things safer, but skateboarders are worried they'll take the thrill away.

Rules might force skaters back to streets
They say the point of skateboarding is overcoming the risks and learning from your mistakes to do bigger and better tricks.

Too safe?

Safety experts want everything in skate parks all to be the same size. They say that if park owners use the rules, they'd be less likely to get in trouble if there's an accident.

People who run skate parks are worried that if the things inside the park become too safe and have no risks, it'll push kids back onto the streets where it's much more dangerous.
