But when 12 girls decided to ignore the new rule, they were sent home, even though they were about to sit their mock exams.
It's caused a big row at the school and the governors will be deciding what to do about the flare-up this week.
In September last year, 70 pupils were banned from a school in Swansea for wearing flares and platform shoes.
