The candidates for mini mayor
Adam Gallagher has been voted in as Middlesbrough's new mini mayor.

He fought off stiff competition from 10 other candidates to win the post.

The new mayor's winning policies include:

  • opening a booze free bar to help keep kids off the streets
  • improving sports facilities
  • producing a regular newsletter to keep young people up to date

Adam, 15, also won our vote on CBBC Newsround Online - he scooped over 16 per cent of your votes.

30, 000 cash to spend

Middlesbrough, UK
The Newlands school pupil will now have an office in Middlesbrough's town hall and has a budget of at least 30,000 to spend on young people in the area.

The local council came up with the idea of a mini mayor election to get more people aged 11 to 17 excited about politics.
