The online survey of almost 2000 boys in Britain aged 12 to 15 was carried out by Wagon Wheels biscuits.

		Anti-hero: Simon Cowell (25%)
		Comedy: Ali G (22%)
		Fictional: Bart Simpson (20%)
		Historical: George W Bush (24%)
		Musical: Shaggy (43%)
		Legendary: Kurt Cobain (34%)
		Female: Cat Deeley (21%)

They decided to do the survey over two months to find out who boys admire nowadays.

There were nine different categories to vote on but boys could also suggest other alternatives.

Categories included top sporting heroes as well as top anti-hero, those pantomime-type characters who we just love to hate!

There were some surprising results too.

Frodo the hobbit beat Harry Potter in the fictional heroes category.

And Kylie was pushed into sixth place by Princess Diana in the top female category, whilst Gareth Gates pipped Will Young in the pop poll.

A spokeswoman told CBBC Newsround Online: "What surprised us was that some of the people who came out on top were really quite clean living people!"

They plan to do the survey every year from now on.
