Cosmic day's a date to remember
Updated 20 February 2002, 15.24
Rare palindromic date
On Wednesday night there will be a cosmic moment which won't come around again for another 110 years.

Why? Well, the date is 20-02-2002 which is a palindrome - it reads the same backwards as it does forwards.

And at two minutes past eight in the evening, it will be 20:02 20-02-2002!

Click here for more backwards and forwards fun!

Palindromes are quite rare. There was one in 2001 on 10 February: 10-02-2001.

Many people are convinced this rare date has a mystical importance. Numbers have always played a large part in superstition.

If all this has been just too complicated, don't worry, the next one isn't till 21 12 2112.
