The Queen to go on tour!
Updated 29 January 2002, 19.13
Her Majesty the Queen
The Queen is taking a leaf out of the pop stars' book and going on a tour of the UK!

Buckingham Palace has released the details of her tour which is to be part of her Golden Jubilee celebrations.

She wants to meet as many people she can to say a big "thanks" for their loyalty to her.

Trip to the Games

She starts her mammoth trip in Cornwall and will even go along to officially close the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

But she'll be making hundreds more visits around England, Scotland and Wales between May and August, including one to the Emmerdale set!

Dates for her visits to Northern Ireland haven't been announced yet for security reasons.

Ready to party

Fact File
Jubilee events
1-4 June: Concert in Queen's garden
3 June: Concert possibly with Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Robbie Williams
3 June: Fireworks display on The Mall

Loads of other big events are being planned too.

Among others, they'll be local street parties and pop concerts in the Queen's garden at the Palace during the bank holiday weekend.

Jubilee organisers say although there was little interest at the start of the year, they're now getting more requests for "toolkits" on how to organise street parties.
