The class with 13 teachers in 14 weeks
Updated 17 January 2002, 15.54

A class of eight year olds at a school in Rotherham had an astonishing 13 different teachers in 14 weeks!

The problems for Class 3b at High Greave Junior School started when six teachers resigned during the summer.

Too many names

The class went through so many supply teachers that they couldn't remember all their names.

Some teachers stayed for little more than a day.

'Really confusing'

One member of Class 3b said: "One week you are doing something, and the next you are doing something else.

"It's really confusing. You get mixed up about the things you are doing."

The problem was so bad that it made the front of the newspapers but High Greave Junior's head teacher says they've now sorted it out - a new permanent teacher has been taken on.
