  Girl Power storms into the dictionary

 Girl Power is in the dictionary
Dictionaries are trying to catch up with the times after the latest version introduced loads of new words.

But the online version of the Oxford English Dictionary still seems to be running a bit behind the latest words and phrases.

Girl Power and Riot Grrrls

Only now have they found the time to fit in Girl Power and Riot Grrrls, which were a loud group of girls in America long before the Spice Girls.

The dictionary also now includes a number of new words to cater for the internet generation, including hot-link and Ethernet.

The dictionary has loads of new words in it
It also finds new ways of using existing words, so high street now means popular or mainstream as well as the best place to spend your pocket money.

And watch out if your teacher gives you too much homework.

You could be in danger of suffering from a disease called karoshi, which is a Japanese word meaning death brought on by overwork!
