Researchers looked at 5,000 American children between the age of nine and 15.
They found that among those who had watched films with 50 or fewer instances of smoking, less than 5% had tried cigarettes.

But among those who'd watched films with more than 150 occurrences of smoking, almost a third had lit up.
Health experts want the film industry to do something about it.
In fact one professor has started a campaign called 'Smoke-Free Movies'.
He wants Hollywood to stop actors puffing away on screen and says if they do, the film must have a '15' rating.
