Children are to get free apples, oranges and pomegranates at school to encourage them to eat more fruit.
Sainsbury's is giving away 65,000 pieces of fruit to 24 schools in London for one week of every term in the future.
Around 4,500 pupils aged seven and above will get to munch on free fruit as a result.
'Fruitastic'
The supermarket decided to launch the 'Free Fruit for Schools' scheme after a survey last week showed children were not eating nearly enough fresh fruit and vegetables.
The poll by the Cancer Research Campaign showed as many as 200,000 children in England and Wales had not eaten any fruit or vegetables in the last seven days.
Sainsbury's is also organising 'Fruitastic Tours' where children can come into their stores and learn more about fruit.
