  Atomic Kitten join litter campaign
Updated 15 October 2001, 18.37

Pop stars like Atomic Kitten have rubbished claims that kids are "too cool" to put litter in the bin.

The girlband have joined the likes of S Club 7 and footballer Michael Owen to tell us to not to drop rubbish in the streets.

Children admitted they sometimes dropped litter because putting it in the bin was "soft" or "uncool", a survey by the Tidy Britain Group showed.

Fines

The young people asked said they thought teenagers were the worst culprits, and that boys were worst than girls for dropping litter.

To stop people leaving their rubbish behind, the kids thought there should be tougher fines and better education about litter and the environment.

Kick

The stars who have signed up to the litter campaign feature on a set of posters.

The S Club 7 poster says: "Don't stop movin', have a tidy, tidy street" and the Michael Owen one claims: "Kick litter into touch".
