  Spider-Man 2 premieres in London
Updated 12 July 2004, 21.15
Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire
The star-studded premiere of massive US smash flick Spider-Man 2 has hit London's Leicester Square.

Stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Alfred Molina, who play Spidey himself, Mary-Jane Watson and the evil Doctor Octopus respectively, all showed up.

The film has broken loads of records in the US, including the highest two day box office taking in North America.

But Samantha Mumba stole the show when she turned up wearing a 5m diamond dress in the shape of a spider's web!

Spider-Man 2 is also the first film to make more than $200m (107m) in eight days. It opens across the UK on 15 July. Fans started queuing in Leicester Square to see the stars as they went along the red carpet.

There was a bit of excitement as so-called comedy terrorist Aaron Barschak was arrested for trying to gatecrash the party.

He made headlines for breaking into Prince William's 21st birthday.

In the states, serious Spider-heads went to see the film in red and blue costumes in some of the 4,152 cinemas it opened in.
