The BBC are looking for 11 to 14-year-olds to take part in a new TV spelling competition.

Hard Spell, which will be on your screens later this autumn, will show school pupils battling out to become Britain's best young speller.

The winning prize is being kept closely under wraps for now but it's better than an apple from your teacher.

To take part in Hard Spell, students must be 11 years old by September 1, 2004 and must not be over 14-years-old by December 18, 2004.

If that's you, the next step is to get your Head teacher to email the Hard Spell team by Friday September 10.

The idea behind the show comes from the US, where millions watch a similar show called the Spelling Bee every year.
