For six years, the soap has been shortlisted against rivals like Corrie in the best soap category of the important television awards.
But the category has been replaced with "best continuing drama", so The Bill, Casualty, Coronation Street and Holby City will battle it out instead.
Other nominations for the awards on 18 April include Ant and Dec for Pop Idol and Saturday Night Takeaway.
Their double nomination is for the best entertainment programme or series category and sees them facing Friday Night With Jonathan Ross and the funny news show Have I got News for You.
Meanwhile, The Office, a comedy about life working in an office with a cringe-worthy boss, has picked up three nominations, including best sitcom.
It has won that prize twice already.
Big Brother host, Davina McCall, will present the awards.
