  Rings 'has longest credits ever'
Updated 13 January 2004, 15.06

The last Lord of the Rings film, Return of the King, has set a record for what Hollywood calls 'credit creep.'

The credits at the end of the Middle Earth masterpiece are nine minutes and 33 seconds long, mentioning hundreds of members the cast and crew.

The list includes the usual actors and cameramen, and a few weirder things like a "wrangler manager" and a "compositing inferno artist."

Other overly-long lists can be found tacked on to Titanic and Waterworld.

The Matrix Revolutions credits are massive!

Credit lists have grown over the years. Star Wars had 151 people in 1977, compared to 701 on Matrix Revolutions in 2003.

But credits were tiny in the early days of cinema.

1922 vampire flick Nosferatu only mentioned 16 people in its minute and a half sequence.
