  Hobbit film looking more likely

The chances are growing that Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson will make a film version of The Hobbit.

Jackson, who made the first three Rings films, has already said he'd be interested if a deal on film rights could be done with the Tolkien family.

Now Royd Tolkien, the author's great-grandson, has said it "would be a perfect ending" if Jackson made the film of Bilbo Baggins' adventures.

Actor Ian McKellen says he'd be up for playing the wizard Gandalf once more.

He went on to say that he preferred playing Gandalf the Grey as Gandalf the White was a "stick in the mud."

The Hobbit tells the story of how Bilbo found the Ring while helping a band of Dwarves to beat the dragon Smaug.

Royd Tolkien appeared in the last Rings film, Return of the King, as a Ranger from Gondor.

The Return of the King recently broke US box office records, when it made $125m (£71m) in its first five days.
