Dan Radcliffe: 'My New Year plan'
Updated 31 December 2003, 17.19

Daniel Radcliffe might be one of the most famous teenagers in the world, but his New Year resolution is pretty basic - to learn how to cook!

"I really want to learn," the Harry Potter star said. "I don't cook at home. After filming I don't get back til very late, but it is my New Year resolution to learn."

Dan also told the websites DanRadcliffe.co.uk and DanRadcliffe.com that his other ambitions are to be able to draw, write or play in a punk band.

'Relaxed'

The 14-year-old said he usually has very quiet Christmases with his close family and friends.

But he still said it was his fave holiday because it is "very relaxed and I receive some great presents".

Dan is now taking a break as filming on the third Potter movie, the Prisoner of Azkaban, finished in December.

'Exciting Quidditch'

Filming on the Goblet of Fire starts in April, but Dan said he hadn't seen a script yet or chatted to new director Mike Newell about the tough emotional scenes at the end of the book.

He did say how much fun he had doing most of his own stunts on the Potter sets. In Azkaban, he has to fly Buckbeak and take part in an exciting Quidditch match in the rain.

"Quidditch is in the rain and is probably the most exciting Quidditch sequence yet. Amongst other things, they had me spinning out of control and falling off my broomstick when I see the Dementors.

"I always love this sort of stunt. I train every day with a member of the stunt department."

'No one recognised me'

While playing everyone's favourite boy wizard has obviously had a huge impact on Dan's life, it's not quite as bad as people think.

"There is an assumption that I can't go anywhere without protection and that is simply not true," he said. "I recently went to see The Strokes in concert and it was absolutely fine. I went to see a preview of Lord of the Rings at Leicester Square and no one recognised me."

But Dan admitted some things are a bit weird, like seeing some of the more unusual Harry Potter merchandise. But the strangest thing he's seen his face on?

"Without a doubt, kitchen roll," Dan said.
