The 23-year-old girl from Glasgow has won a record contract after winning the ITV1 talent programme.

Michelle, who has had to put up with weekly comments about her weight, beat Mark Rhodes, 21, from the West Midlands, who got down to the last two.

"To everyone who said I couldn't do it, I've done it," Michelle said. "I just want to do really well."

'Best shot'

Michelle broke down in tears on the show when the results were announced.

She later said she'd be moving to London with her two best friends to make a real go of it as a pop star.

"Whether it lasts a year or 20 years, I'm going to give it my best shot," she said. "I haven't come from anywhere, I was a nobody six months ago."
