  Pop Idol pair face final showdown

 Pop Idol finalist Michelle McManus
Michelle and Mark will battle it out on Saturday for the Pop Idol crown.

Scottish Michelle McManus, 22, is the fave to win the ITV1 talent show, but as we know from past experience, on Pop Idol anything can happen.

But Mark Rhodes, 21, is very popular too. The pair have been busy doing a whirlwind tour of Britain this week.

Outspoken judge Pete Waterman blasted some of the contestants this week, saying they were "freaks and geeks". The final is at 6.45pm on Saturday.

'Pity'

Pete said there were lots of contestants who didn't make it into the final 10 who were better singers.

But he did say he thought Michelle would win the show.

"I think music seems to have gone slightly out of the window this year with the voting, which is a pity. I just think lots of kids that had a lot more musical integrity went out," Pete said.

Whoever wins the show has a pretty good chance of a massive music career. Will Young and Gareth Gates both went on to become huge stars.
